I adopted Louie, a 9-1/2 yo bischon. Dirty, depressed, sadly laying in his cage at shelter. Feeling Louie wouldn’t be adopted, several days later I went and got him to “foster” him. Ha Ha. What a joke. Louie gave us 5 wonderful fun and love filled years. What a little diamond in the rough.
No. Not for one single minute did I ever regret adopting Louie.
By the way – my philosophy for adopting an “unwanted” senior dog was that I wouldn’t use extraordinary means to keep him well. I think the idea of spending $$$ on an older pet makes people hesitate to adopt.

This is definitely a 10 star article. People are rarely considering senior pets and by the number of senior dogs in shelters you can see what happens to all those bought puppies.
I have been thinking recently of a dog I will get when I move into my new home with a back yard and you made me decide.
A senior dog adopted from a shelter appreciates what is done for him and returns so much love.
